general electric scooter maintenance

An electric scooter is a great investment, though, that often means you’re going to have to take extra special care of it! Getting the right scooter care is therefore essential. In this blog, we will give you some tips and tricks on how to properly maintain your electric scooter, and of course, how to safely have fun while at it.

Regular maintenance reduces the likelihood of major problems and increases the longevity of your scooter. It also saves you money from future repairs. Simply, putting a little extra effort into looking after your e-scooter will save you from greater trouble in the future and will give you a safer and more enjoyable ride.

Maintenance Tips

If you’ve just bought an electric scooter, you might be wondering how on earth you maintain it. Luckily for you, we have some great tips in how to do this. Here are a few important tasks you should be mindful of:

  • Making sure you charge the battery often
  • Store it somewhere safe
  • Check your tyre pressures regularly
  • Inspect cables as often as possible
  • Check there are no loose bolts
  • Keep components clean

Ride safely

Apart from keeping your scooter in good condition, you’ve got to make sure you’re riding safely. Electric scooters are really fun to ride, but they can also be dangerous when improperly used. To avoid this from happening, let us show you some of the things you need to know before and while riding an electric scooter.

  • Avoid riding in wet conditions - this is extremely important!
  • Be aware of your surroundings
  • Always wear protective gear

Battery

You can prolong the life of your electric scooter battery if you apply these golden rules:

  • Keep your electric scooter’s battery charged
  • Charge your electric scooter’s battery at the right time
  • Charge your electric scooter before storing it
  • Always use the appropriate original charger that fits your battery.
  • Keep your scooter in a dry environment at an optimal temperature.
  • NEVER charge, uncharge, use or store a damaged or puffy battery

Tyres

By keeping your tyres in tip-top condition, you are essentially maximising their lifespan and keeping your e-scooter moving for longer. Your tyres will be doing a lot of work whilst you are riding so if you are making sure they have the correct tyre pressure and are that they are inflated, you will be doing yourself a huge favour! Unfortunately for some, punctures can occur. There are some things you can do to help prevent punctures.

  • Get some puncture prevention sealant
  • Check your tyre pressures regularly
  • Check if your tyres are in good condition
  • Check for foreign objects
  • Don’t ride when it's wet!
